More southwesting through the mountains. Current virtual location is near Sunbeam, Idaho, on a road that does have Google Street View, but the imagery is 17 years old.

No complete rain-outs the past two weeks, though one day’s walk was truncated by weather. Another day fell victim to a trip to Gilbertsville, NY to put up posters for our upcoming morris dancing tour, and another had very limited walking because I was driving 12 hours to get to a favorable location to sit and watch the sun disappear . But I did get a bike ride in, not too lengthy — I was still recovering from eclipse day — but it got the distance back up closer to good.

I’ve been seeing turtles.

Tail end of a turtle, about 30 cm long, near a barrier next to a recreational trail.

Big turtle

Close view of a turtle, about 30 cm long, in some grass. Its head is mostly pulled in.

Big turtle

A log and algae floating on some water with trees reflected in it. On the log, some distance apart, are two turtles. They are facing in opposite directions as if unwilling to acknowledge each other's existence.

Not on speaking terms
